epaselect epa11032785 Members of the Ukraine National Scout organization 'Plast' share a Bethlehem flame with Ukrainian National Guard servicemen in a shelter near Kharkiv, 16 December 2023 The Peace Light of Bethlehem is a program started in Austria in 1987 as part of a charitable relief mission for children with extra needs and people in need. It has gone to more than 20 countries in Europe, as well as the Americas. Every year before Christmas, the flame originates at the Grotto of the Nativity in Bethlehem and goes to Austria.
