Samsung Electronics to release AI-powered Galaxy Book4 series

Samsung Electronics Co. will release the Galaxy Book4 series with enhanced artificial intelligence (AI) processing speed on January 2, the company said on Thursday.

The latest laptop series incorporates Intel Corp.’s first neural processing unit (NPU) processor, allowing the devices to handle multiple AI computations on their own without relying on the cloud.

The new Galaxy Book4 series will be available in three models: Ultra, Pro 360, and Pro.

The NPU-incorporated central processing unit supports machine learning and deep learning. All models feature a touch function on screens using organic light-emitting diode (OLED) technology.

Equipped with Intel’s new Core Ultra processor, the Galaxy Book4 laptops can facilitate various AI functions from over 100 applications in gaming, video, and video editing, enhancing productivity. The newly applied Intel Arc graphics processing unit provides improved performance in games and content creation.

The top model, Ultra, supports high-performance functions such as games and graphic work more smoothly through an external graphics card for laptops, specifically the Nvidia Corp.’s GeForce RTX 40 series.

Security features have also been strengthened.

The Galaxy Book4 series uses a physically separate Samsung Knox security chipset for the first time in the Galaxy Book series, enhancing the protection of users’ sensitive data.

Previously, the Galaxy Book laptops used the security system built through collaboration with Intel and Microsoft.
