Arin of girl group Oh My Girl donated 30 million won ($23,400) to The Beautiful Foundation on Monday to help orphans in need of housing, her agency, WM Entertainment, said Thursday.
The singer’s donation will be used to support housing for orphans who are discharged from orphanages or other facilities after they turn 18, so that they can establish a safety net for their independence.
Arin has been supporting the foundation for three consecutive years; she first donated on her birthday in June 2021, according to her agency. This year's donation brings her total contributions to 100 million won.
“I hope that by sharing, the youth can spend this cold winter in a warm and safe place,” Arin said on Thursday through her agency.
“I want to support their healthy and stable start toward independence in a physically and emotionally secure environment.”
Arin debuted as a member of girl group Oh My Girl in 2015 with the song “Cupid” under WM Entertainment. Her band is behind hits “Secret Garden” (2018), “Nonstop” (2020), “Dolphin” (2020) and “Dun Dun Dance” (2021). The sextet is composed of members Hyojung, Mimi, YooA, Seunghee, Arin and Yubin.
Arin has also built a career as an actor. She starred in tvN’s fantasy drama “Alchemy of Souls” (2022) and tvN’s short-form drama “Summer, Love Machine, Blues” in July.
