South Korean cosmetics giant Amorepacific Corp. on Thursday announced the development of Dr. Amore®, an artificial intelligence (AI)-based skin diagnosis system.

A related paper was published in the International Journal of Cosmetic Science, a prestigious international academic journal indexed in the Science Citation Index (SCI), on Tuesday.

Amorepacific described Dr. Amore® as “an AI-based diagnostic system created via deep learning on the evaluation of skincare experts using the skin images of Korean women.”

The system allows for the immediate diagnosis of major skin concerns such as wrinkles, pigmentation, pores, and red spots through photos, the company said.

The company further explained that its Research & Innovation (R&I) center confirmed trends related to skin aging among Korean women through research utilizing Dr. Amore®.

The analysis of facial images of 120 Korean women aged 10 to 60 revealed that the most significant changes in skin features as they age occur between the ages of 20 and 30.

In particular, skin wrinkles and pigmentation change significantly between the ages of 20 and 30, while skin pores increase significantly between the ages of 10 and 20, according to the company.
