IMAGE DISTRIBUTED FOR GPE - In this image released on Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2023, the new Djabel Refugee Camp in Eastern Chad. Sudanese refugees have fled to Djabel since the start of the War in Darfur in 2003 and the UN predicts that due to the current surge in conflict there will be an influx of 600,000 new refugees in Chad by the end of the year. GPE funded research in Chad has been looking towards expanding existing EdTech programs in the region and one study took place in Djabel camp itself. One of the highlights from the research was the discovery that for students taking part in one program named 'Can't Wait to Learn', female students started with lower numeracy skills compared to boys but caught up in just 4 to 4.5 months.
