EU and French Development Agency launch climate initiative in Punjab's urban areas

The EU and Agence Francaise de Developpement (AFD) have joined forces in Islamabad to launch a climate initiative in Punjab's urban areas. The project, signed by EU Ambassador Dr. Riina Kionka and AFD Deputy Director Ms. Julie Marsaudon, aims to enhance access to clean water and sanitation services through the installation of 200 kilometers of new water supply pipes and 55,000 new connections, benefiting 400,000 individuals. The initiative also focuses on increasing water treatment capacity by 135,000 cubic meters per day and strengthening urban water governance, as part of the EU's commitment to supporting Pakistan's climate resilience and green inclusive growth.
