Starting from the first half of 2024, customers visiting around 10 Hyundai Department Store locations will have the option to use Hyundai Motor and Kia’s payment solution, CarPay, to settle their parking fees. The innovative feature allows drivers to manage and pay for parking charges from within their vehicles without the need to exit the car. Hyundai Motor and Kia, alongside Hyundai Department Store, formalized the implementation of the ‘CarPay in-car parking payment service’ with a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed at the Hyundai Department Store headquarters in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, on Tuesday.

CarPay facilitates convenient payments via the vehicle’s infotainment screen, enabling users to settle fees with a few touches and eliminating the necessity for physical payment cards. This service is available in vehicles equipped with Hyundai Motor’s ‘Bluelink,’ Kia’s ‘Connect,’ and similar connected car services. As the first global automotive companies to independently develop an in-car payment system, Hyundai Motor and Kia integrated CarPay functionality in their recently released vehicles, starting with the Genesis GV80 in 2020.

Customers owning vehicles equipped with CarPay will be able to manage their parking fee settlement seamlessly. When visiting Hyundai Department Store parking lots, they will not need to engage in pre- and post-parking settlement procedures at the kiosk. Instead, upon starting their vehicle, an on-screen payment notification will appear on the infotainment display, allowing them to review and settle the parking fees without stepping out of the car.
