The Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) named automated robotics services as the most compelling solution to address the potential labor shortage arising from an investment boom in the U.S. manufacturing sector.

“U.S. imports are up amid strong investments in manufacturing, while the share of imports from China is declining due to the U.S.-China supply chain competition,” KOTRA said at a briefing session on 2024 global market access strategies held at the Grand InterContinental Seoul Parnas in southern Seoul on Tuesday. “Korea, with its strengths in high-tech and intermediate goods, should seize the opportunity in this shift.”

Park Sung-ho, head of KOTRA’s North American office, presented his analysis of the U.S. export market for next year, saying “Automated robotics services are showing promise in tackling the potential labor shortage in the U.S. manufacturing field as investment grows.”

Kim Hyun-chul, who heads the European region for KOTRA, presented strategies to enter the value chain by taking advantage of the continent’s move toward building eco-friendly mobility and infrastructure, participating in renewable energy and nuclear power projects, and entering the consumer goods market to capture the circular lifestyle values of European consumers.
