Singer Jeon Somi released a winter-themed track titled “Ex-Mas” on Tuesday at noon in collaboration with rapper BIG Naughty, Somi’s agency, The Black Label, said Tuesday.
The new song is a blend of piano and cello melodies, accompanied by a trendy beat, that expresses the lonely feelings of parting with a loved one, the agency said.
The two artists wrote the song and the lyrics themselves, and The Black Label’s producers Nohc and Vince participated in the arrangement, according to the company.
Somi had hinted at the collaboration with BIG Naughty by posting pictures she'd taken with the rapper to her Instagram account on Monday.
Somi won first place on the first season of Mnet's audition program “Produce 101" and spent the subsequent nine months performing with I. O. I, the 11-member girl group made up of contestants from the show in 2016. The project group disbanded in early 2017.
She signed with The Black Label in 2018 and made her solo debut in 2019 with the single “Birthday.”
Somi hosted and performed in the 2023 MAMA Awards.
BIG Naughty, whose real name is Seo Dong-hyun, is known for his appearance on Mnet's hip-hop competition program “Show Me The Money 8" in 2019. He dropped the single “Vancouver 2" in September.
