NCSOFT poised to tap Park Byung-moo of VIG Partners as co-CEO

NCSOFT Corp. announced on Monday it will recruit Park Byung-moo, CEO of VIG Partners, as its new co-CEO, marking the company’s first introduction of a dual leadership structure since it was founded in 1997.

Born in 1961, Park, graduated from the Department of Law at Seoul National University in 1985 and completed his legal training at Judicial Research & Training Institute. He served as a naval legal officer before practicing law at Kim & Jang.

He has also held positions as the CEO of Planners Entertainment (formerly known as Locus Holdings), TPG Asia (Newbridge Capital), Hanaro Telecom, and VIG Partners.

His official appointment is scheduled to be confirmed at the board and shareholder meetings scheduled to take place in 2024.

NCSOFT, which has been operating under the sole leadership of founder Kim Taek-Jin as CEO, recently saw profitability fall due to setbacks in new game releases. The dual leadership plan is seen as a move to leverage Park’s diverse experience and expertise to navigate the company through its current challenges as well as foster a new era of growth and innovation.
