Gotgan develops product to remove cooking odors

Indoor ventilation is one of the most common problems for housewives. Certain cooking processes, such as grilling meat or boiling stew, spread various odors not only in the kitchen but also throughout the indoor space.

‘FanPLUS’, developed by Gotgan, a South Korean small company, is a product that addresses these ventilation concerns. It can be easily attached underneath the kitchen range hood without the need to replace the range hood above the gas stove. It has a three-stage expansion and folding feature, allowing it to be folded when not in use. This device is also easy to assemble and install without requiring professional assistance.

“By simply installing it under the range hood, FanPLUS immediately removes cooking odors, harmful gases, fine dust, and cooking fumes, leading to an overall pleasant kitchen environment,” an official from the company said.

Cooking fumes are organic compounds generated during cooking due to the heat. They cause a chemical reaction with other molecules in the indoor air and can become carcinogens when entering the body.

Gotgan began developing FanPLUS in 2017, subjecting the product to a long trial and error process before its official launch in 2021. The product received the ‘2020 Excellent Invention’ award from the Korea Invention Promotion Association in 2020.

“FanPLUS got goods cores in our reviews from housewives who tried the product,” the Gotgan official said. “Users reported that cooking odors disappeared within a short time, and many praised the energy-saving effects, as they did not need to open windows for ventilation in both summer and winter, which led to reduced air conditioning and heating costs.”
