Part two of director Choi Dong-hoon’s sci-fi adventure film “Alienoid” will be released on Jan. 10, its distributor CJ ENM said Monday.
“Alienoid” will star actors Kim Woo-bin, Kim Tae-ri, Ryu Jun-yeol, So Ji-sub, Jeon Yeo-been, Lee Ha-nee and more.
The two-hour-long movie revolves around the gurus from the late Goryeo Dynasty (918–1392) who try to obtain a fabled, holy sword, and humans in the present day who hunt down an alien prisoner locked inside a human body. A time-traveling portal opens up, allowing the two groups to collide.
The first part of “Alienoid,” which hit theaters on July 20, sold about 1.5 million tickets, according to the Korean Film Council. The film won Best Art Direction and Best Visual Effects at the 2022 Daejong International Film Awards.
Choi, who wrote the script for the film and directed it, produced works such as “The Big Swindle” (2004), attracting 2 million viewers, “Tazza: The High Rollers” (2006) 6.8 million, “Jeon Woo-chi: The Taoist Wizard” (2009) 6 million and “The Thieves” (2012) 12.9 million.
