GM Korea’s cumulated auto exports top 10 mn

GM Korea Co. has achieved a cumulative exports of 10 million finished vehicles, 21 years after its parent company General Motors Co. entered the Korean market. The figure surpasses 25 million units as of November when including the exports of partially assembled parts.

During the commemorative ceremony held to celebrate the milestone at its headquarters in Bupyeong, Gyeonggi Province, on Wednesday, GM Korea Chief Executive Officer Hector Villarreal expressed gratitude to the employees for their hard work and dedication to producing the best quality products.

GM Korea has produced various Chevrolet models, including Aveo, Spark, Trax, Cruze, and Malibu, as well as models such as Trax crossover and Trailblazer currently in production.

GM vehicles made in Korea have mainly been exported to North America (35 percent) and Western Europe (26 percent).

The largest export market is the United States, where over 2.5 million units have been sold.

By model, Chevrolet Aveo took the lead with about 2.21 million units, followed by Spark with 1.94 million units, and Trax with 1.78 million units.
