The number of visitors to South Korea’s Lotte World Mall and Tower in southern Seoul increased by 21 percent from 2022 after it opened its ‘Jamsil Christmas Town,’ the entertainment and recreation complex said on Friday.

Lotte Property & Development Co., Lotte Department Store, and Lotte World jointly created a 6,000-square-meter Jamsil Christmas Town for the 2023 Christmas season, including a 3,000-square-meter Christmas garden, “The Wonder Wish Garden,” that was unveiled on November 10 by Lotte World Tower. The winter-themed garden, featuring trees decorated with more than 5,000 lights and carousels, is quickly becoming a popular destination.

A 2,000-square-meter Christmas market also opened in front of Lotte World Mall on November 24, offering Christmas-themed products, food, and entertainment options. Christmas trees and photo zones have also been set up at various locations, including the Lotte World Tower’s observation deck Seoul Sky, Signiel Seoul 1st floor, Avenue L 1st floor, and World Mall 4th floor.

Lotte World Mall and Tower said that the average number of visitors per day from November 10 to December 4 increased by 21 percent compared to 2022, and the number of carousel riders also rose by 9 percent to a cumulative total of 50,000 by December 4, 2023.

“During the first weekend of December, we had 470,000 visitors, a 30 percent increase from the first weekend of November,” a Lotte official said. “As Christmas approaches, we expect the number of visitors to increase even further.”
