The V League will open the fan vote Tuesday for the 2023-24 All-Star game, which has been scheduled for Jan. 27 next year at Incheon Samsan World Gymnasium in Incheon.
The fan vote will run through Dec. 11. Players from both the men and women’s V League who played in three sets of this season’s first 12 games make up the candidate pool. A total of 28 players from the poll will make it to the All-Star squad.
This season’s All-Star game will consist of two teams of seven: K-Star and V-Star.
K-Star will have players from three men’s teams — Incheon Korean Air Jumbos, Suwon Kepco Vixtorm and Ansan OK Financial Group Okman — in addition to players from three women’s teams — Gimcheon Korea Expressway Hi-Pass, Suwon Hyundai Engineering & Construction Hillstate and GS Caltex Seoul Kixx.
Over in V-Star, players from men’s teams Cheonan Hyundai Capital Skywalkers, Seoul Woori Card Woori Won, Uijoengbu KB Insurance Stars, Daejeon Samsung Bluefangs and players from women’s teams Heungkuk Life Insurance Pink Spiders, Daejeon Jung Kwan Jang Red Sparks, Hwaseong IBK Altos and the Gwangju AI Peppers will make up the squad.
Each team will consist of one setter, one libero, two middle blockers and three attacking position players.
The All-Star games over the years have included events such as an award ceremony for the players with the most fan votes and a serve contest in which players compete to see who records the fastest serve.
The players also show unique celebrations during the game, dancing to famous K-pop music when they score.
The Korea Volleyball Federation (KOVO) has yet to announce what additional events it will include in this year’s All-Star game.
Voting will happen on the KOVO’s official website, and fans can vote every day until the poll closes.
