Home & Shopping, a dedicated home shopping channel for South Korean small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), is aiming to tap the growing overseas direct online purchase market.

On Sunday, Home & Shopping announced plans to establish a dedicated store for direct online purchases in China, signing a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Weihai Torch Hi-tech Science Park management committee to facilitate cross-border e-commerce.

The signing ceremony, held on November 23 at the Weihai Torch Hi-tech Science Park office in Weihai City, China, was attended by Home & Shopping CEO Lee Il-yong and representatives from the Weihai Torch Hi-tech Science Park.

Designated as a cross-border e-commerce pilot zone in July 2018, Weihai City houses about 800 e-commerce companies. Via this MOU, Home & Shopping aims to establish a dedicated section for direct online purchases by January 2024 and when this section is launched, customers can expect a reduction in shipping times from an average of over 10 days to about 4 days, facilitated by swift customs clearance and expedited delivery services.

This step reflects Home & Shopping’s strategic expansion into the global market, leveraging the growing trend of direct online purchases and catering to consumer demand for fast, hassle-free cross-border shopping experiences.
