A special exhibition that spotlights media art and artists with disabilities kicked off Friday at the K-Culture Museum inside Gyeongbokgung Station, subway line No. 3, in central Seoul.
Titled “Colorful,” the show is hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Creative Content Agency (Kocca). It has four media artworks, two of which are pieces by artists from the Korea Disability Arts & Culture Center.
The two from the center are artist Kwon Han-sol’s “Ponyo’s Travel” (translated) and Park Hye-sin’s “The Flower’s Memory” (translated), which were made by giving original paintings more dimension and making them more lively by turning them into media art.
Local media art group Prome’s “The Guardian’s Invitation” (translated) and “The World Beyond” (translated) are also on view.
“We hope this special exhibition will be an opportunity for rookie artists and artists with disabilities to be positive about their dreams, and a chance to present a new experience for visitors as well,” Kocca President Jo Hyun-rae said in a press release.
“We plan to host more collaborations among artists at K-Culture Square in the future and break down the boundaries between people with disabilities and those without.”
“Colorful” continues until Dec. 3. The K-Culture Museum is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. every day. The exhibit is free to all.
