Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Euisun Chung’s recent visit to Singapore’s Nanyang Technological University (NTU) sparked discussions regarding collaborative research and talent acquisition strategies in Asia’s premier technical institute.

According to Continental Lab on Thursday, Chung’s visit on November 21 involved meetings with NTU President Ho Teck Hua and Continental Automotive Singapore’s CEO Lo Kien Foh.

Continental Automotive, a top 10 global auto parts company, formed a consortium with NTU to create an industry-university research lab to study core technologies.

NTU hosts joint research labs with various global corporations including HP, Singtel, Delta Air Lines, and now, Continental Automotive. Leveraging NTU’s talent pool, the collaborations advance research and development while safeguarding intellectual property rights for participating companies.

Hyundai Motor Group recently announced plans to establish a mobility research institute in Singapore jointly with the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) under the Ministry of Trade and Industry of Singapore, the country’s driver of scientific research. Chung’s visit aimed to explore successful collaborative models between industry, academia, and government while discussing potential avenues for cooperation between Hyundai Motor Group and NTU.
