Hyundai Rotem is set to solidify its position as a leading supplier of ground weapon systems, including the latest K2 tank and wheeled armored vehicles lineups, showcasing a new market portfolio.
It is especially targeting the market with products tailored for the emerging global trend of a Manned-Unmanned Teaming (MUM-T) weapon system, incorporating cutting-edge technologies.
One key product in Hyundai Rotem's unmanned military system is the multipurpose unmanned military vehicle.
The vehicle, developed in-house by Hyundai Rotem, is an electric unmanned platform capable of carrying various equipment for missions such as reconnaissance, surveillance, supply and fire support.
It features various unmanned operation functions, including autonomous following, remote operation and autonomous driving along designated routes.
Successfully completing field trials in GOP (general outpost) and DMZ (demilitarized zone) last year, it became the first military unmanned vehicle delivered to the Korean military, demonstrating its quality and reliability.
Furthermore, Hyundai Rotem is reinforcing its core product lines, tanks and armored vehicles, for global market expansion.
The development of a new 30-ton wheeled armored vehicle is under way, aiming to enhance competitiveness in the related market.
It can accommodate various armaments, including medium and large caliber turrets, and is equipped with a high-performance water propulsion propeller for amphibious operations.
Hyundai Rotem is also modifying the K2 tank to promote the export of the product.
At the recent ADEX (Seoul International Aerospace & Defense Exhibition), the company unveiled the export model “K2EX (K2 Export).” K2EX enhances performance compared to the existing model by incorporating advanced field equipment, such as active protection systems, remote weapon systems and combat field situational awareness system.
"We are dedicated to continuous technology research and development to enhance future competitiveness. We will actively respond to global market demand by strengthening our ground weapons system portfolio, including Manned-Unmanned Teaming system,“ an official from Hyundai Rotem added.
