Girl group Sistar's subunit, Sistar19, is set to make a comeback in January for the first time in 11 years, Klap Entertainment said Friday.
Klap Entertainment, home to boy band Vanner, will be in charge of the management and production of the duo's upcoming new music. The two singers are signed to different agencies but have come together for this special project, Klap Entertainment said.
Starship Entertainment, the official agency of Sistar and Sistar19, has pledged its full support to the project, according to Klap.
The duo's most recent EP, “Gone Not Around Any Longer,” was released on Jan. 31, 2013.
“The two members — Hyolyn and Bora — are working hard on their vocals and choreography to upgrade the unit's identity,” Klap Entertainment said in a news release.
Sistar19 debuted its first single, “Ma Boy,” in May 2011, following its EP, “Gone Not Around Any Longer.” Both releases saw major success.
Sistar debuted under Starship Entertainment in 2010. The girl group is best known for its summer-themed tracks such as “Touch My Body” (2014) and “Shake It” (2015). The group disbanded in 2017 following the expiration of its exclusive contract with the agency.
After disbanding, the members focused on their solo careers. Hyolyn released several music, including her latest release, “This Love,” featuring Korean Canadian rapper Paul Blanco, on July 12. Bora also started an acting career, performing in numerous TV shows such as SBS' drama “Dr. Romantic.”
