Samsung, LG sweep CES 2024 Innovation Awards

Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics have dominated the CES 2024 Innovation Awards, announced ahead of the upcoming trade show slated for next month in Las Vegas.

The Consumer Technology Association (CTA) unveiled the Innovation Awards for products and technologies preceding CES 2024 on Wednesday (local time). Samsung Electronics secured three top Innovation Awards in the video display sector, with the Galaxy Z Fold 5 receiving two innovation accolades.

Samsung amassed a total of 28 Innovation Awards across various categories, including video displays (14), home appliances (8), mobile devices (5), and semiconductor technology (1). Notably, its Exynos Connect U100, a wideband solution for ultra-wideband (UWB) technology, was honored for delivering high-precision distance accuracy in mobile, automotive, and Internet of Things (IoT) devices.

Meanwhile, LG Electronics also marked its highest-ever achievement with a total of 33 Innovation Awards, including two top Innovation Awards. LG’s winning streak encompassed video displays and content (19) and OLED TVs (12). The OLED TV, launched in 2013, has consecutively secured CES Innovation Awards for 12 years. LG’s proprietary smart TV platform, webOS, was also recognized for its innovative edge. In addition, LG’s next-generation home appliances like the LG StanbyMe Go and LG Signature Washer-Dryer received awards in various categories.

In the heavy industries sector, HD Hyundai and Doosan received Innovation Awards. HD Hyundai’s intermediate holding company for construction machinery, HD Hyundai XiteSolution, was honored for its AI-based machine assistance, X-Agent. Additionally, Avikus, the autonomous navigation company under HD Hyundai for ships, was recognized for its leisure boat solution, NeuBoat Navi.

Doosan also won awards in the construction machinery and AI sectors. Doosan Bobcat’s fully electric skid loader (S7X) was selected for sustainability and smart city categories, while Doosan Robotics clinched an award in the AI segment.
