Two digital postcards threatening to rape every Korean woman appeared on an electronic display at Lotte Department Store in Jung District in Seoul on Wednesday.
One of the digital postcards displayed at 10 p.m. was in Korean. The other was in English.
The digital postcards were part of the department store’s Christmas event, in which anyone can send messages to an electronic display after snapping a QR code with a smartphone.
Lotte Department Store said its system filters banned words, but admitted that some of the words that appeared on the display were not censored.
The department store said it asked Namedaemun police to track down the person who transmitted the messages.
