LG shares safety, environment best practices at group-wide event

South Korea’s LG Group held its maiden group-wide safety and environment event, LG SHEC (safety, health, environment, and conference). According to multiple industry sources on Wednesday, LG Corp. hosted LG SHEC at LG Science Park in Magok, Seoul, where it shared the best practices of each affiliate in the field of safety and environment and spread the knowledge across the group.

Held for the first time this year, LG SHEC was attended by 440 safety and environmental managers from LG and its affiliates including LG Electronics Inc., LG Display Co., and LG Innotek Co. Key government officials also joined the event, including Ryu Kyung-hee, head of the Occupational Safety and Health Office at the Ministry of Employment and Labor, and Park Bong-gyun, head of the National Institute of Chemical Safety at the Ministry of Environment.

At the event, 20 best practices were presented to share the managers’ knowledge about safety and environment in various sectors at LG. LG recognized six sites as best workplaces for safety and environment of the year and awarded them with plaques and prize money. Training programs were also held to allow participants to experience hypothetical accident situations using technologies such as virtual reality (VR) and robots.
