LG Group readies sales promotion after LG Twins wins Korean Series

The promotion will be led by the group’s business-to-consumer (B2C) affiliates, including LG Electronics Inc., LG Household & Health Care Ltd, and LG Uplus Corp.
LG Group Chairman Koo Kwang-mo visited Jamsil Stadium for Game 5 of the Korean Series to enjoy LG Twins win on Monday. The team won four straight games against the KT Wiz to win the regular season and the Korean Series title.
LG Group companies are busy organizing promotions to celebrate their first championship in 29 years.
Looking at the precedents of previous winning teams and parent companies, the promotions started not long after the victory.
LG Group is known to be preparing large-scale promotions for home appliances at LG Electronics, household products at LG Household & Health Care, and telecommunication services at LG Uplus.
The business community is particularly interested in the promotion scale of LG Electronics. As home appliances are pricier than household goods and telecommunications, many fans and customers have been waiting for LG Twins to win the Korean Series.
Earlier, LG Electronics started selecting products for discount and checking its inventory as it gained the upper hand in the final game, according to sources.
LG Electronics plans to give back 10 percent of purchases in membership points, up to a limit of 300,000 won ($226.24).
“We plan to select models for the championship promotion and offer discounts to fans and customers after consulting with our distribution channels,” said an LG Electronics official.
LG Household & Health Care and LG Uplus have also organized promotions to thank fans and customers for their support. LG Household & Health Care will offer discounts on household products, cosmetics, and beverages, while LG Uplus is expected to provide call, text, and data coupons to its customers.
