A retrospective on actor Song Kang-ho will be held at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles from Dec. 7 to Jan. 13 next year.
The retrospective will look back on Song’s 30-year career and showcase 14 films featuring the actor, according to Sublime Artists Agency in a press release.
From Dec. 7 to 10, Song himself will participate in person and introduce his works, such as the Oscar-winning “Parasite” (2019), “Memories of Murder” (2003) and “Secret Sunshine” (2007) and more, to the audience and partake in discussions with visitors to the museum.
The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures is the largest film museum in the United States, opened in September 2021 in Los Angeles, the center of the American film industry.
The museum commemorates the impact of film on culture, science and history and aims to promote the understanding and preservation of film.
The retrospective on Song is curated jointly by the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures’ programming team with a grant from the Korea Foundation.
Song debuted as an actor in 1996 and rose to prominence with appearances in critically and commercially acclaimed films, including “Joint Security Area” (2000), “Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance” (2002) and “The Host” (2006).
He gained international recognition for his performance in “Parasite” and was recently awarded Best Actor at the 75th Cannes International Film Festival for his role in “Broker” (2022).
Song is regarded as a veteran actor and one of Korea’s most prolific actors today.
