'Melting Point' by ZeroBaseOne sells over 2.1M copies in first week

Boy band ZeroBaseOne sold over 2.1 million copies of its latest EP "Melting Point," giving the band its second album in a row to sell over 2 million copies.

“Melting Point,” released on Nov. 6, sold 2,131,352 copies during the week after its release, according to music sales tracker Hanteo Chart.

The feat comes just four months after it last reached the milestone with its debut EP "Youth In The Shade," which was released on July 10, selling 2,034,594 copies as of September, according to local music tracker Circle Chart.

The band was also the first K-pop group to see an album sell 1 million copies just one day after its album release with two consecutive albums. “Youth In the Shade” sold 1,240,000 copies in 24 hours, and “Melting Point” sold 1,450,000 copies during the same frame, its agency said in a press release.

ZeroBaseOne landed at No. 9 as the most-sold K-pop album within a week among albums released in 2023. It was also ranked in the top seven groups with the highest selling albums of 2023, according to WakeOne.

The band is also making records with the tracks on its latest album.

The songs on the album surpassed 5,270,000 streams collectively, with its lead track “Crush” reaching over 1,750,000 streams on the global music streaming service Spotify as of Monday morning.

ZeroBaseOne — also known as ZB1 — is a project group formed through cable network Mnet's audition program "Boys Planet." The group consists of nine members: Zhang Hao, Sung Han-bin, Seok Matthew, Ricky, Park Gun-wook, Kim Tae-rae, Kim Gyu-vin, Kim Ji-woong and Han Yu-jin. The band will have been active for two and a half years since its first release on July 10.
