Coupang reappoints Kang Han-seung as Representative Director

Coupang, the Korean e-commerce giant, reappoints Kang Han-seung as CEO and plans to extend his leadership until 2026.

Coupang, the U.S.-listed Korean e-commerce giant, reappointed Kang Han-seung as its CEO and Representative Director of Business Management, the company announced Monday.

Kang, who took on the role of CEO in November 2020, concurrently served as the Chairman of Coupang's board of directors. The renewed term for Kang's leadership will be extended until November 2026.

“During the past three years, Kang has been leading Coupang's growth in the retail market, such as with the company's listing on the New York Stock Exchange, as well as fostering collaboration with small- and medium-sized enterprises and promoting regional development,” Coupang said through a press release Monday.

Kang, formerly an attorney at Kim & Chang law firm prior to joining Coupang, played a key role for Coupang's legal team which was honored as the “Corporate Team of the Year” at the International Financial Law Review (IFLR) Asia-Pacific Awards last year.
