A new drama series “Wonderful World” starring Cha Eun-woo and Kim Nam-joo will be airing on MBC in the first half of next year.
An entertainment industry insider told JTBC Entertainment News, an affiliate of the Korea JoongAng Daily, Monday that “Wonderful World” has been scheduled as a drama on MBC to be aired on Fridays and Saturdays.
“Wonderful World” will tell the story of Eun Soo-hyun, played by Kim, who after losing her son seeks to bring justice to the perpetrators with her own hands. Cha will play a character named Kwon Sun-yool, who gets involved in Soo-hyun’s plot.
Kim Kang-woo and Im Se-mi will play supporting roles alongside Kim and Cha.
“Wonderful World” will be directed by Lee Seung-young, who directed “The Missing” (2015), “Voice 2” (2018) and “Tracer” (2022). The drama is written by Kim Ji-eun, who wrote the screenplays for “Cheongdamdong Scandal” (2014-2015), “Enemies from the Past” (2017-2018) and “Lie After Lie” (2020).
Cha played minor roles in films and dramas before officially debuting as a member of boy band Astro in 2016. He has since starred in lead roles in a number of hit dramas including “Gangnam Beauty” (2018), “Rookie Historian Goo Hae-ryung,” (2019) and “True Beauty” (2020-2021). He is currently starring in “A Good Day to Be a Dog,” airing also on MBC.
Kim Nam-joo debuted in 1994 through a talent search program by SBS and rose to stardom in the late 1990s. She took a hiatus from acting after her marriage to fellow actor Kim Seung-woo before making a comeback with “Queen of Housewives” (2009), and has since starred in dramas such as “My Husband Got a Family” (2012) and “Misty” (2018).
