Singer G-Dragon has shaved his entire body except for his head before being questioned for his recent illegal drug use allegations, according to reports Friday.

The police reportedly suspect that it was G-Dragon's attempt to dodge a detailed drug test before being summoned for questioning.

On Monday, the singer voluntarily appeared at the Incheon Nonhyun police station in Incheon and took a rapid urine test, which came out negative.

Rapid drug tests can detect substances up to 10 days after use.

The same day, the police tried to obtain hair samples from G-Dragon's head and body to send to the National Forensic Service for a more comprehensive test but found that he had shaved his body.

G-Dragon said he "shaves [his body] on a regular basis" and that it was not an attempt to pass a drug test.

In addition to hair samples from his head, the police also took samples of his fingernails to send to the National Forensic Service.

Fingernail tests have a detection period of up to six months and screen for a wider variety of drugs.

Hair tests have a detection period of up to a year, depending on the length of the hair sample taken. However, for those who dye and bleach their hair frequently, like G-Dragon, hair tests can be less effective.

It's not the first time a celebrity has shaved their body before a police investigation for alleged drug use.

Singer and actor Park Yoo-chun, who was convicted of illegal drug use in 2019, had done the deed since when he first appeared for questioning. At the time, he even held a press conference and said he was innocent.

After he tested positive for methamphetamine, he said that he was "going to check how it got into [his] body."

Robert Holley, also known by his Korean name Ha Il, is another example, as he, in 2019, showed up for police questioning after shaving off body hair and receiving a full body wax. He had also dyed his hair.

The police plan to expand the scope of the investigation on G-Dragon and summon him again after the results of the detailed drug test arrive.

G-Dragon, who debuted as a member of the boy band Big Bang in 2006, was previously questioned for alleged marijuana use in 2011 by the prosecution, but his indictment was suspended at the time after he confessed to having inhaled the substance unintentionally.
