Tomorrow X Together has been certified platinum for its third full-length album "The Name Chapter: Freefall" by the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ), the boy band's agency BigHit Music said Friday.
The album shipped over 250,000 copies in Japan as of October, according to the RIAJ.
The RIAJ certifies music based on shipment figures. Singles, EPs or albums earn gold certification for more than 100,000 copies shipped, platinum for 250,000, double platinum for 500,000 and triple platinum for 750,000. Albums that ship one million copies earns a million certification.
"The Name Chapter: Freefall," released on Oct. 13, is the tenth album from the band getting certified by the RIAJ. Its Japanese singles "Magic Hour" (2020), "Drama" (2020) and EP "The Name Chapter: Temptation" were titled platinum. Its third Japanese single "Good Boy Gone Bad" (2022) and second Japanese full-length album "Sweet" were certified as double platinum.
The third full-length album recorded No. 1 on Japan's Oricon weekly album chart as of the week of Oct. 9, making it the band's ninth album in a row to land atop the chart. The album also landed No. 3 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, making the band the only K-pop artist to have three albums land on the chart this year.
Tomorrow X Together debuted in 2019 under BigHit Music and is known for its "storytelling" albums. The band consists of five members: Soobin, Yeonjun, Beomgyu, Taehyun and Hueningkai. It released its debut single in Japan, "Magic Hour," in January 2020, less than a year after its debut in Korea.
The band will hold encore concerts for its second world tour "Act: Sweet Mirage" at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Guro District, western Seoul, on Dec. 2 and 3.
