International banking group Standard Chartered PLC held its first board meeting in South Korea in five years that was attended by the group’s board chair, chief executive, board members, and senior management.

According to Standard Chartered Bank Korea Ltd. on Thursday, Standard Chartered Group’s board meeting was held in Seoul, Korea, with Chairman Jose Vinals and Chief Executive Bill Winters attending. The meeting was held at Standard Chartered Bank Korea’s headquarters in Jongno District, Seoul on Wednesday and Thursday. The executives also communicated with employees and took part in business support activities during their visit, the bank said. This is the second time that the group’s board meeting was held in Korea after its first in 2018, a sign that Korea is a strategic key market for Standard Chartered Group and a key hub in Asia for much of its trade and investments.

In addition to the board meeting, the Standard Chartered Group directors and executives also visited key customers and met with next-generation leaders at Standard Chartered Bank Korea.
