Seventeen's 'Seventeenth Heaven' earns triple platinum in Japan

The EP sold over 750,000 copies in Japan as of October, according to the association.

Seventeen has been certified triple platinum for its latest EP "Seventeenth Heaven" by the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ), the boy band's agency Pledis Entertainment said Friday.

Over 750,000 units of the EP have been shipped in Japan as of October, according to the association.

The RIAJ certifies music based on shipment figures. Singles, EPs or albums earn gold certification for more than 100,000 copies shipped, platinum for 250,000, double platinum for 500,000 and triple platinum for 750,000. Over 1 million copies shipped earns a million certification.

Over five million copies of "Seventeenth Heaven," released on Oct. 23, have been shipped within the first week of its release, the highest ever in K-pop. Its lead track, "God of Music," has also become the first song by a K-pop boy band to top this year's Melon's Top 100 chart.

This is not the boy band's first title earned this year from the RIAJ.

Its first Japanese EP, "Dream," and tenth EP "FML" earned the million certification, making it the first artist to earn the title consecutively.

Its Japanese compilation album "Always Yours," released on Aug. 23, also was certified triple platinum in September.

The band plans to continue its Japan tour, titled "Seventeenth Tour 'Follow' To Japan," in Saitama, Nagoya, Osaka and Fukuoka from Nov. 23, following its Tokyo concerts on Sept. 6 and 7.

Seventeen debuted in 2015 under Pledis Entertainment. It consists of 13 members: S.Coups, Jeonghan, Joshua, Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, DK, Mingyu, The 8, Seungkwan, Vernon and Dino. The band is known for "Very Nice" (2016), "Clap" (2017) and "Super."
