People evacuated from the Gaza Strip arrive in Bucharest

epa10965497 People evacuated from the Gaza Strip disembark from the plane that transported them from Egypt to 90 Military Air Base, near the Bucharest International Airport, Romania, 08 November 2023. 93 Romanian citizens and their families were evacuated yesterday from Gaza through the Rafah border crossing point by the representatives of the Romanian Embassy in Egypt, and transferred to Cairo by a mobile team of the Rapid Reaction Unit of the Crisis Cell of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania. Thousands of Israelis and Palestinians have died since the militant group Hamas launched an unprecedented attack on Israel from the Gaza Strip on 07 October 2023, leading to Israeli retalitory strikes on the Palestinian enclave. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania announced on 03 November that six people with dual citizenship, Israeli and Romanian, are being held hostage by Hamas militants inside the Gaza Strip.
