Broadcaster SBS’s drama “A Business Proposal” (2022) will be remade into a Hong Kong drama, the distributor Kakao Entertainment announced Wednesday.

The remake will air on Nov. 27 on ViuTV, a TV channel operated by Hong Kong telecommunications company PCCW.

Two members of Hong Kong's popular boy band Mirror — Anson Lo as Kang Tae-moo (originally played by Ahn Hyo-seop) and Eden Lui as Kang’s secretary Cha Sung-hoon (played by Kim Min-kyu) — were cast to star in the newly made drama. Model and actor Hanna Chan will take the role played by Shin Ha-ri (played by Kim Se-jeong).

The romantic comedy centers around the relationship between Kang Tae-moo, a food conglomerate CEO, and Shin Ha-ri who is an employee at Kang’s company. The story begins with the two meeting through a blind date. Spoiler alert: The story ends with them tying the knot with wedding bells ringing, a fairy tale ending to their story.

The overall plot of the original drama will be maintained, but some details have been changed, according to Kakao Entertainment.

“For example, Shin Ha-ri’s parents will be running a Hong Kong style restaurant which differs from the original fried chicken restaurant,” the company said in a press release.

“A Business Proposal” is an adaptation of the web novel “The Office Blind Date” (2017-18) from Kakao Page, a web novel and webtoon platform, written by Haehwa. Kakao Entertainment expanded its IP, adapting it into a Novel Comics’ webtoon and more recently into a SBS drama.

Kakao Entertainment also recently signed an agreement with Japanese Broadcaster Fuji TV on releasing a Japanese adaptation of its webtoon “Aquaman” (2016-19), expanding its IP into the global market.
