Global audiences may see popular Korean TV shows "Reborn Rich" and "Hellbound" remade in English and French.
Nine Korean production companies of the famed drama and content met with producers and broadcasters in London, Paris and Los Angeles as part of a business tour organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Creative Content Agency (Kocca) held under the title "2023 Series On Board."
Korean companies RaemongRaein, Barunson C&C, Studio329, AStory, Whynot Media, Climax Studio, Firstman Studio, Big Ocean ENM and Keyeast took part in business matching and networking sessions with overseas entertainment companies and broadcasters.
The Korean companies got a chance to sit down with some of the biggest entertainment and content companies in Britain, France and the United States, including Gaumont, the company behind the famed BBC Studios' series "Leon" and "Lupin," Broke and Bones, producers of Netflix original series "Black Mirror," Banijay Studios and Federation Studios.
U.S. production companies, including Warner Bros., Apple TV+, Amazon Prime Video, Lionsgate, Paramount Studio, ABC Signature and CBS Studios, also took part in the "2023 Series on Board" program to meet with Korean producers, according to Kocca.
Benjamin Thornton, the development executive at Warner Bros., expressed his pleasure in having met with Korean producers and said that a lot of works intrigued him, according to Kocca.
The government will spend 111.5 billion won ($85 million) to nurture the content and broadcasting sector next year. The culture ministry and Kocca will focus on providing Korean producers and content a chance to find new audiences and distributors overseas and spread the Hallyu, Korean wave, content worldwide.
