Jeon Cheong-jo, the 27-year-old ex-fiancé of Olympian Nam Hyun-hee, was arrested in Gimpo, Gyeonggi, on accusations of fraud and attempted fraud.
The Seoul Eastern District Court on Tuesday issued an arrest warrant against Jeon, calling her a flight risk.
The arrest came a day after the Songpa police applied for the warrant on Monday.
The court also approved a warrant to seize evidence at Jeon’s residence.
The police are currently investigating Jeon on three cases recently reported cases, including 20 million won ($14,000) she took from an individual for an app development investment in August.
Jeon posed as the scion to a prominent hotel and casino conglomerate, which she later confessed was a lie. She also had prior convictions for fraud, for which she served more than two years in jail.
A Gangseo District Office councilman has also accused the Olympian Nam of being an accomplice, especially since she accepted expensive gifts from Jeon.
