Mirae Asset founder, Naver chief to inspire youth at charity event

Park Hyeon-joo, founder and global strategy officer of Mirae Asset Financial Group, and Choi Soo-yeon, chief executive officer at Naver Corp., will attend a charity event organized by the Federation of Korean Industries (FKI) in December and share insights with young people.

According to the FKI, Park and Choi will share their business experiences during an event on December 11, which resembles that of an event that offers the opportunity to eat lunch with billionaire investor Warren Buffett.

The FKI’s charity lunch is part of the business lobby group’s “New Way Initiative,” a mid- to long-term development vision unveiled early this year.

Following the initiative, the FKI organized the first charity lunch event in May with Hyundai Motor Group Executive Chair Euisun Chung, SoCar Inc. Chief Executive Officer Park Jae-uk, and entertainer-businessman Ro Hong-chul.

Park and Choi, the speakers for the second event, are known to have agreed to join the lunch as they support the event’s goal, which is to foster positive social influence by sharing experiences and insights with the younger generation.

Twenty participants will have the opportunity to join the charity lunch on the condition that they offer their skills as a form of “payment” for the lunch.

Those interested in the event can participate by submitting their talent-sharing plans on the FKI website (www.fki.or.kr) by November 19. The FKI will select 20 participants based on assessment criteria that focus on the feasibility, impact, and creativity of their plans.

The FKI is committed to promoting communication between business leaders and young people.

“The young participants who attended our first charity lunch were able to meet their role models and left with dreams and courage,” said the organization, adding that it will continue to host these events “to support the dreams of the youth.”

Mirae Asset Founder Park is a pioneer in the South Korean financial market. Having begun his career as a trader, he established Mirae Asset Financial Group and made it a dominant player in the Korean financial market, which also operates in 17 regions worldwide.

Park is also known for his social contributions through the Mirae Asset Park Hyeon-joo Foundation, donating his dividends to the foundation for more than a decade now to nurture financial talent.

Naver’s Choi is a young leader who leads Korea’s internet platform company. Under her leadership, Naver achieved record-breaking revenue in 2022, surpassing 8 trillion won ($5.9 billion).

She is believed to have transformed Naver into a unique global platform company that offers a broad range of services, including content, commerce, payment, cloud, AI, and robotics.

Choi has been recognized for her achievements in business, earning titles such as the “Most Powerful Women” by Fortune and “Asia’s Power Businesswomen 2022” by Forbes.
