Bayern beat Darmstadt 8-0 in a bizarre game at the Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany that saw Harry Kane score a hat trick, Bayern go down to 10 men in less than five minutes and Darmstadt lose two of their players before the end of the half.
Oh, and Kim Min-jae was there too.
It was an emphatic game in Munich on Saturday, with Bayern scoring eight goals all in the second half — Kane got three, Jamal Musiala and Leroy Sane took two each and Thomas Muller added one — and three red cards within the first half for the first time in Bundesliga history.
From a Koreans in Europe perspective, the center-back of the team that went up by eight goals was not exactly the most exciting position on the pitch. Kim still had some work to do — Darmstadt attempted nine shots and still controlled 46 percent of the possession — but the vast majority of the action was around the Darmstadt goal.
If serious Kim fans really want to keep score, the Korean Monster made two clearances, forced an offside and committed one tackle on Saturday, presumably as a break from standing around and watching Bayern dominate at the other end of the pitch.
Kim, who joined Bayern this season, has now played the full 90 minutes in all nine league games this season, maintaining a pass success percentage above 91 percent in every game.
