Pianist Yunchan Lim, the winner of the 2022 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, signed an exclusive recording contract with Decca Classics, the label said, adding it put a lot of time and effort to sign with Lim.
Decca Classics, founded in Britain in 1929, released records with renowned classical artists, including conductor Georg Solti and tenor Luciano Pavarotti.
“Decca has been working with so many legendary musicians. So it’s a record label that is hard to not appreciate as a musician,” Lim said.
Lim’s first studio recording album with Decca is slated for release next spring.
“We are planning to start a new chapter of Decca with Lim,” Dominic Fyfe, the label’s director and Helen Rogers, its executive producer, said in a press release.
At 18, Lim became the youngest winner of the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition last year.
Lim performed at major recital halls across the world and with renowned orchestras. Lim will be holding seven concerts with the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra from Nov. 15 to Dec. 1.
