SK Chem, Estée Lauder collaborate to broaden use of green cosmetic containers

South Korean petrochemical firms have recently started collaborating with cosmetic manufacturers to increase the production and supply of environmentally friendly containers to the market.

SK Chemical Co. announced on Tuesday that the chemical company signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Estée Lauder Companies Inc. that is focused on recycling solutions for cosmetic containers. Estée Lauder is a global cosmetic chain with 30 well-known sub-brands. According to the agreement, SK Chemical is responsible for the supply of eco-friendly materials, such as ECOTRIA CR, SKYPET CR, and reusable ECOZEN Claro, which Estée Lauder will use to develop a new, green cosmetic container.

LG Chem Ltd. also partnered with Amore Pacific Group, South Korea’s top cosmetic maker, by recently signing a similar MOU.
