South Korean automaker Hyundai Motor Co. will re-evaluate its sales strategy for the U.S. market and tighten its sales network to strengthen presence in the United States.

According to industry sources on Tuesday, Jose Munoz, global chief operating officer (COO) and president of the North American region, met with local dealers in major regions in the U.S. for on-site discussions. Hyundai Motor executives in the U.S. also attended the gathering to meet with dealers and present management policies and plans.

Hyundai Motor cars are sold through dealers in the U.S., making collaboration and communication with local dealers crucial, especially in the rapidly growing U.S. electric vehicle market.

The ties are even more important after Hyundai Motor has been excluded from the list of beneficiaries for the tax credit under the recent U.S. Inflation Reduction Act (IRA).

Hyundai Motor is expected to reframe its sales and marketing strategies in the U.S. for the next year following a series of communications with local dealers.

The automaker has also begun expanding its local sales network focusing on its premium brand Genesis. The brand recently announced plans to expand its presence by adding ten more locations for selling its EVs at U.S. dealerships, increasing the total to 33.

Genesis is also planning to operate nine dedicated stores, with two additional locations in California and Louisiana.
