SKT launches platform that reduces cloud costs with AI technology

SK telecom on Wednesday announced the launch of Cloud Radar 2.0, a cloud management platform that leverages artificial intelligence technology to support businesses to reduce their cloud computing services costs.

The new platform uses AI to obtain real-time costs and usage statuses for the cloud services used by companies, then using the information to recommend the most cost-effective cloud pricing plans and services. It also analyzes pay-as-you-go cloud pricing and contract conditions, suggesting contract terms that could result in up to a 72 percent discount, as well as identifying and removing services considered unused cloud resources and providing recommendations for optimizing capacity for excessively configured cloud resources.

SK telecom said that this service was designed in response to the complex product structures and cost calculation systems for different cloud service providers such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure. Companies often struggle to determine whether their costs are reasonable and identify the most suitable discount conditions based on their usage patterns, the company added.

SK telecom tested the platform with some of its clients ahead of its official launch and reported that they achieved an average cost savings of 37.2 percent.
