Tomorrow X Together topped Japan's Oricon weekly albums chart with its third full-length album "The Name Chapter: Freefall," making it the boy band's ninth album in a row to land atop the chart, its agency BigHit Music said Tuesday.
"The Name Chapter: Freefall" sold around 225,000 copies as of Monday since its release on Friday, leading straight to the top of Oricon's weekly albums chart.
It is also the band's third album that has landed No. 1 on the chart this year, following its EP "The Name Chapter: Temptation" and the band's second Japanese full-length album "Sweet."
Oricon said Friday that Tomorrow X Together is the only artist whose album topped the chart three times this year.
The band has the record for the number of consecutive No. 1s on the chart as a foreign artist, followed by BTS, Enhypen and Seventeen.
Tomorrow X Together debuted in 2019 under BigHit Music and is known for its "storytelling" albums. The band consists of five members: Soobin, Yeonjun, Beomgyu, Taehyun and Hueningkai. It released its debut single in Japan, "Magic Hour," in January 2020, less than a year after its debut in Korea.
The band held a comeback show on Saturday, which was streamed live on Weverse.
