SK Telecom launches auto AI platform NUGU auto 2.0

South Korean mobile carrier SK Telecom Co. announced Monday that it launched NUGU auto 2.0, an artificial intelligence (AI) platform for next-generation automobiles that enables drivers to get directions and check their schedules by imputing a word or two.

NUGU auto is a car-specific AI platform that incorporates SK Telecom’s vehicle-optimized voice recognition pre-processing technology, and the upgraded NUGU auto 2.0 version has added a Routine Service that allows users to focus more on driving without being distracted by additional operations, as well as various infotainment content.

Routine Services can execute frequently used functions simultaneously, and SK Telecom’s global positioning system application T-map will start giving drivers the directions to their workplace if they register the command “Go to work” and say it out loud, while also adjusting the air conditioning to the right temperature and giving updates on the weather and schedule.

Other services added include Melon, which can be connecting the driver’s account and used immediately, Google Calendar, which allows users to check their schedule directly in the car, a baseball service that provides baseball game schedules and results in real time, and horoscopes according to zodiac signs and date of birth.
