Hyundai Glovis, the logistics unit of Hyundai Motor, broke ground for an airfreight logistics center at Incheon International Airport.
Once completed in 2025 at Incheon International Airport's second logistics complex, the five-story, 44,420-square-meter (478,132 square feet)-sized logistics center will be capable of handling an average of 25,000 tons of new air cargo each year. It aims to bolster the company's range of logistics services, extending from terrestrial and maritime domains to the airfreight sector.
The center will be equipped with a range of advanced features, including automation facilities dedicated to the efficient handling of global ecommerce cargo. Furthermore, an expedited customs clearance system will be implemented, speeding up cargo processing.
The facility will house automated warehouses designed to accommodate high-tech products such as precision machinery and medical devices. Additionally, it will feature cold chain storage, catering to the storage of fresh and temperature-sensitive cargo.
Hyundai Glovis is exploring the possibility of integrating cutting-edge robotics into its operations through a potential collaboration with U.S. robotics startup Boston Dynamics.
