Boy band Superkind will release its first EP “Profiles of the Future (Λ) : 70%” on Oct. 18, over a year after its debut in June last year.

The tech-meets-K-pop-themed boy band's newest song will embody the group's identity, where 2-D meets 3-D through the power of music. Superkind is a seven-member group consisting of five real members and two virtual artists: Eugene, Geon, Daemon, SiO and JDV, and Seung and Sejin.

The band first debuted as a group of five in 2022. This will be the first time for all seven members of the band to participate in an album. The lead track is titled “Beam me up (2Dx3D)” and embodies the band’s slogan, “2Dx3D, Dimensions Assemble.”

All members, both virtual and human, will perform together as a unit on stage for upcoming TV music programs, their agency said in a press release.

Superkind debuted under DeepStudio last year in June with the single “WATCH OUT” (2022). The single focused on it being the first K-pop boy band to include a virtual human artist as one of its members.

The band had previously placed 2nd on Rolling Stone India’s “10 Best K-pop Debuts of 2022.” It garnered praise for its game-like interactive fan experience, as fans can comment their opinions on the band’s platform Playsuperkind to determine the development of the band, such as choosing the backdrops for music videos or concepts for the band’s future releases. The fans are even called "players" by the members, with each new release being a new round.

In a previous interview with the Korea JoongAng Daily in 2022, member Eugene described the band members as being “characters in this game called PlaySuperkind, which unfolds based on the players’ creative input, as if they’re programmers.”
