Korea won three more medals in ju-jitsu at the Hangzhou Asian Games on Saturday, with Sung Ki-ra and Kim Hee-seoung claiming silver and Choi Hee-joo taking bronze.
Sung, the 2018 Asiad gold medalist, faced Alkalbani Shamma of the United Arab Emirates in the women’s -63 kilogram division final at Xiaoshan Linpu Gymnasium in Hangzhou, China and lost the contest 8-4, settling for silver.
Choi, on the other hand, won her bout 4-0 against Lao Andrea Lois of the Philippines in the women’s -63 kilogram bronze medal bout and took bronze.
Kim’s faced Alketbi Fasial of the UAE in the men’s -85 kilogram division and held the match to a 2-2 tie, ultimately losing by advantages and taking silver.
Advantage points are special points given to fighters for sweeping or passing the guard of their opponents.
With the three medals from Sung, Kim and Choi, Korea ended this year’s Asiad with six medals in ju-jitsu: One gold, two silver and three bronze.
Ju-jitsu first debuted as an official sport at the Asiad in 2018, when Korea managed two medals.
