Samsung C&T inks MoU with Sinar Mas Land for smart city project in Indonesia

Samsung C&T Corp.’s construction division announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Sinar Mas Land, Indonesia’s largest real estate development company, for cooperation in smart city development in Indonesia.

The MoU was signed last week, the Korean company said on Friday.

Sinar Mas Land is known for its diverse portfolio of projects in Indonesia, including urban development and residential and commercial property development. Currently, the company is undertaking a massive Bumi Serpong Damai (BSD) City Project in the southwestern region of Jakarta, covering an expansive area of 60 million square meters.

Under the MoU, Samsung C&T will collaborate with Sinar Mas Land to implement essential smart city technologies in the BSD City Project, which will involve the integration of Samsung C&T’s smart home platforms, modular solutions, and renewable energy technologies into the smart city.

The two companies will also collaborate on the development of a new capital smart city as part of the planned relocation of Indonesia’s capital to Nusantara, Kalimantan.

“Indonesia is currently witnessing a surge in activities related to capital relocation and smart city development,” said a company official. “With our expertise and capabilities in smart city infrastructure, we plan to actively participate in these projects.”
