Korean divers added two more medals, one silver and one bronze, to the board on Sunday at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China.
The duo of Yi Jae-gyeong and Kim Yeong-nam took silver in the men’s synchronized 10-meter platform, knocking Malaysia out of second place with their final dive.
Together, Yi and Kim scored 387.78 points, trailing far behind champion China, with 492.63 points, but an inch ahead the Malaysian divers, who had claimed second place for five of the six final round dives until they were bumped from their silver-medal podium spot, finishing with 386.07 points.
Earlier in the night, the Korean women’s diving duo of Park Ha-reum and Kim Su-ji took bronze in the women's synchronized 3-meter springboard event.
They came behind China, who took gold after scoring the highest marks on each dive, and Malaysia, who took silver in a pool of five teams.
Park and Kim scored a total of 253.56 points, falling short of China’s 335.73 and Malaysia’s 270.27.
In the finals, teams received points for each of the dives they completed. For men, that was six dives, and for women, five.
The Korean men’s duo scored 50.4 points in back somersault, 47.4 in reverse somersault, 67.5 with forward somersaults, 72.96 with inward somersaults, 73.92 on back somersaults and twists and 75.6 on their final dive — with more back somersaults and twists.
The Korean women’s duo scored 44.4 points with a forward somersault, then earned 43.80 on an inward somersault, 56.28 in back somersaults, 57.96 in reverse somersaults and 51.12 with back somersaults and twists.
Korea had won three total diving medals by Sunday. Yi, along with teammate Woo Ha-ram, took silver in the men’s synchronized 3-meter springboard final on Saturday, winning Korea’s first diving medal of this year's Asiad.
The diving schedule is set to wrap up on Wednesday.
