South Korea’s Samsung Engineering said Wednesday that it has secured a $19.5 million contract for front end engineering design (FEED) of a petrochemical plant in Saudi Arabia.

FEED is basic engineering conducted after completion of conceptual design or feasibility study.

The project, commissioned by Alujain National Industrial Co., involves the basic design of a propane dehydrogenation (PDH) plant with a capacity of 600,000 tons and a polypropylene (PP) plant with a capacity of 500,000 tons, both located in the Yanbu Industrial City in the Medina region of western Saudi Arabia.

It also covers the basic design of utility facilities (UTOS) required for the plants.

Samsung Engineering emphasized its previous experience in executing multiple PDH and PP projects in Saudi Arabia, which contributed to its competitive advantage in winning the contract.

The company expressed its commitment to carry out the project successfully and to continue securing additional engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contracts in the future.
